About Us

A high school student investment club built on shared learning.

Monarch Eleven is a high school student investment club based in Los Angeles and founded on the principles of persistence, collaboration, and long-term thinking—values inspired by the monarch butterfly’s extraordinary journey. Just as no single monarch completes its migration alone, Monarch Eleven is built on teamwork, shared learning, and collective growth.

The “Eleven” represents the club’s original founding members—students who began working together during COVID and built Monarch Eleven through curiosity, discipline, and collaboration. As the club grows, these founding values remain central as we welcome new members.

Current student members attend the following high schools:

  • ACS Cobham International School
  • Flintridge Preparatory School
  • Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy
  • Fusion Academy
  • Harvard Westlake School
  • La Canada High School
  • Loyola High School
  • Oakwood School
  • Polytechnic School
  • South Pasadena High School

About Monarch Butterflies

Persistence, adaptability, and trust in the process.

The monarch butterfly is known for one of the most remarkable journeys in nature — traveling thousands of miles through persistence, adaptability, and collective effort. No single monarch completes the journey alone; success depends on teamwork, timing, and trust in the process. These same qualities are essential to thoughtful investing and long-term financial decision-making. In finance, as in nature, progress is rarely linear. Markets change, challenges arise, and short-term setbacks are inevitable. The monarch butterfly teaches us the value of resilience—staying disciplined through uncertainty, learning from each stage of the journey, and keeping a long-term vision in focus. Investing rewards patience, preparation, and the ability to adapt while remaining committed to a shared goal.

Program Overview

Foundational and practical investment education.

Monarch Eleven focuses on building foundational and practical knowledge across public, private, and alternative investment strategies. In addition to a robust investment curriculum, members engage with leaders in finance, law, and business, gaining firsthand insight into how companies operate and how investment decisions are made in real-world settings.

Students participate in a rigorous, collaborative learning environment including group work and presentations. Expectations include extensive reading, financial modeling, business and industry analysis, podcast and media-based learning, and presentations to fellow students and advisors.

Additional opportunities include investment competitions, conferences, and experiences designed to build professional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills beyond technical finance knowledge.
